'A Strange Loop' London

Thank you for your interest in A STRANGE LOOP.

RESOURCES: DECK || AGREEMENT

I’m honoured to be on the team bringing this groundbreaking show to London and hope you’ll join us.

Rehearsals are under way, previews are selling out (images below), and the show has earned £1M — all before the official campaign launches for this Pulitzer & Tony award-winning show.

Further details follow below and I am available any time: cali@caligreenink.com.

TL;DR:
- Units are sold in £5K amounts (as a group or an individual investor)
- The process is uncomplicated — whether a first-time investor or someone well-versed, it starts with a two-page document and streamlined funds transfer.
- Our producers include: Jennifer Hudson, Alan Cumming, Billy Porter & more.

ROI:
- Financial: Please see the deck for detailed breakdowns, but this show is a winner — both literally and figuratively.

- Events: Attend any investor events at Barbican and be my personal guest for a performance (I would love for that to be when I host a talkback).

- Equity: Any support — from investing to forwarding this message — is a step toward putting at least one more face like mine into rooms and at tables where decisions are made.

- Public-facing / Programme: You will be recognised in the show’s official programming (you may also opt-out, of course).

MORE ABOUT THE SHOW:
A Strange Loop
is the ground-breaking and critically acclaimed winner of every ‘Best Musical’ award on Broadway and the Pulitzer Prize. Starting next month, it will enchant audiences at the Barbican for a one time only, limited season.

Michael R. Jackson’s blisteringly funny show is “audacious and uproarious” (The Guardian) and heart-felt masterwork. The show tells the story of Usher, a young, Black artist grappling with hopes, his identity, and instincts that he both loves and loathes. Hell-bent on breaking free of his own self-perception, Usher wrestles with the thoughts in his head — all of which are brought to life onstage by a hilarious, straight-shooting ensemble.

A Strange Loop is “a dazzling ride” (New York Times) and “Screamingly funny. Unmissable. The musical we’ve been waiting for.” (Time Out) — and this is (currently…) its only UK run.

ABOUT ME + MY THEATRE WORK:

I produced my first show when I was seven. As a precocious kid, The Turtle Who Wanted to Fly found me wearing the hats of producer, director, and (of course) the star. Four years later, I was the only 11-year-old founding member of my town’s first theatre group.

Dozens of shows and a few decades later in 2018, I was at NYC’s Public Theater with Maria Manuela Goyanes (Woolly Mammoth, D.C.). The Public was home to a long-running theatre workshop I loved and had the pleasure to work on (BARS founded by Rafael Casal and Daveed Diggs). It’s also the place I rediscovered an old love: I wanted to produce theater (again) and Maria offered her mentorship. As we spoke, I was pen-in-hand to take notes from an acclaimed Woman of Color in the industry.

Turns out I didn’t need the pen. Her words: “You’re already a great producer — find a show you love and produce it.”

The following year, my first NYC production went up at Signature Theater — Blanks, written by Gethsemane Herron-Coward, a multi-award winning playwright.

We all know what 2020 (and years to follow) meant for the arts, so I traded Brooklyn for living on the beach in Mexico to sort next steps and prioritize wellbeing.

During that time, I continued to create, write, produce, and host. I executive produced a collaboration with Apollo Theater for a broadcast event based on my event series, Screen/Play. I co-hosted a successful audio-based show for Twitter in the BM times (Before Musk). I also created a podcast, sub ver sive, which I still host, write, and EP.

The end of 2022 brought me to London where I’m beyond grateful to be an AP for Strange Loop. Far more than returning to something I love in one of my favorite cities, this show has also re-immersed me in one of my happiest places: the intersection of art and social good.

And my inner seven-year-old is thrilled. || official bio
