SCREEN/PLAY™ is an event series that celebrates “throwback” films and their soundtracks. Created by Cali Green, she is also its writer, director, and executive producer.

In its live iteration, this unique experience features a film screening, a conversation with the movie’s key players, and a musical performance from or inspired by the soundtrack. Now digital, we've navigated how to bring that live event feel to a virtual stage.

To date, we’ve paid homage to The Last Dragon with Taimak, El DeBarge, and Black Thought; Juice with the director, writers, and film's cast; Under the Cherry Moon with Questlove and Jerome Benton; and most recently, House Party with Kid 'n Play, Reginald Hudlin, Full Force, DJ Cassidy, and more.

The series successfully sold out all three of its live installments, increasing in size and scope with each activation. When the series went digital as Apollo’s Theatre’s first-ever ticketed online event, we discovered how to made a virtual experience equally as dynamic and fun-filled as a live one.
